Wessex Actors Company: Hayfever

The Wessex Actors Company is back for another year with their rendition of Noel Coward’s witty comedy ‘Hayfever’.

The popular production is a fabulous, frothy, feverish farce with underlying themes of cruelty, jealousy and despair. Bring along and enjoy your own evening picnic in the Walled Garden from 5pm with the performance starting at 6pm.

The Great Poole Dog Walk


Sunday 17th July

Bring your pooch to the Great Poole Dog Walk at Upton Country Park and help raise money for Waggy Tails Rescue Centre, Lewis-Manning Hospice and Chestnut Nursery.

Further activities include ‘Where’s Fido’ competition and Scavenger hunt with guaranteed prizes. This walk is not suitable for dogs under 6 months, dogs in season or dogs registered under the Dangerous Dogs Act.

£5 per dog (max. 4 dogs per person, 4th dog goes free). £1 additional walkers over 16.

Registration from 10am. The walk starts at 11am.

The beautiful grounds of Upton Country Park are once again to play host to the 8th annual Poole Town & Country Show this summer over the weekend of 6 & 7 August and organisers Oakleigh Fairs hope to repeat the great turnout achieved in previous years.

There will be something for everyone – including birds of prey, working dogs with John Cavana, Purbeck Ferrets, Terrier Racing, children's entertainer Mario, The Goat Show, as well as arts, crafts, gifts and food marquees, trade stands and rural demonstrators. Music from Celtic Confusion throughout the weekend with their blend of traditional and folk music. The event is fully catered and there is a licensed bar featuring Real Ales and cider.

Children can also enjoy inflatables and a children’s fairground (charges apply).

Entry £6 for adults, £5 concessions, £3 for children aged 5-16 yrs. A Family Ticket (2 adults & 2 children) is available at £15. Advance tickets at discounted rates available from www.oakleighfairs.co.uk/upton






REGULAR ACTIVITIES AT UPTON  COUNTRY PARK

Nordic Walking Classes every Friday at 12.30pm and 1.30pm for 1 hour. A great low impact outdoor activity using Nordic Walking poles which provide stability whilst recruiting between 80-90% of the muscles in the body. £4 per session, meet in the main car park.

Free Health Walks The Poole Healthy Walks Scheme offers free short walks led by trained volunteer Walk Leaders. Every Friday at 12 noon and every 2nd Saturday of the month at 10am. All walks are 1 mile and offer gentle exercise. New walkers always welcome, just turn up and join in. Meet by the bus stop in the main car park.

Segway Tours Running throughout the year - a unique way to enjoy the Country Park! Take a guided Segway tour gliding through the beautiful gardens and woodland with a qualified instructor whilst you take in the abundance of plants and wildlife around you. Minimum age for a Segway tour is 12 years, and maximum group size is 6 per tour.
